Featured Crew Member: Kelly Kent

Hello, we are excited to announce over the next few months we are doing a special series of posts here on the Stamp Review Crew Blog featuring some of the Crew Members. We asked our crew member a series of questions to help you get to know them better. The Stamp Review Crew Hops wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for all these talented stampers coming together to share their love of stamping.

We are giving a big shout out to Kelly Kent, a very talented lady! Kelly has been part of the crew team since March 2016. You can visit her blog My Paper Craft Journey to see all her fabulous creations!

We asked Kelly to tell us a little bit about her family and where she lives:

Hi, I’m Kelly Kent and I live on the west coat of Australia in a country town about 2 hours from the major city of Perth.  My little family consists of my husband “Mr Papercraft” and 3 kids – two Little Miss Papercraft and one Master Papercraft.  I’m lucky to have my parents close by including “Nanna Papercraft” who shares my love of stamping.

We asked Kelly to tell us a little about herself:

My professional role is as Paediatric Speech Pathologist working in a private practice clinic two days per week.  I have always been crafty and enjoyed making things, so stamping was the perfect hobby to pick up over 10 years ago.  Stamping is a wonderful way to find creativity in life, have something that is just for me and has created the most wonderful network of amazing people.

We asked what led you to stamping?

I was invited to attend a workshop by a friend and was instantly hooked.  I stopped into the local craft store on the way home to buy supplies because I was too impatient to wait for my Stampin’ Up! order to arrive.  We are on the other side of a very big country to the SU! warehouse, so it often takes weeks for those gorgeous Big Brown Boxes to arrive!

What do you love most about being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator?

The people I now know and call my closet friends because of our shared passion for stamping.

How would you describe your crafting style?

I love clean lines, straight design and using patterned paper.  Oh, and white embossing and white twine!

Do you have something you like to create specifically?

Birthday cards are my favourites.  There’s nothing that attracts me to a Stampin’ Up! stamp set like a wonderful ‘happy birthday’ stamp.

What is your favorite Stampin’ Up! Tool and Why?

My heat tool.  There’s a lot of magic in heat embossing – both to see the powder change and to have as an effect on a card.

What is your favorite current Stampin’ Up! Product and why?

DSP – I buy every pattern in every catalogue and I’m yet to meet a DSP that I don’t like, though I definitely have favourite patterns within packs.  I see-saw between hoarding the favourites so they don’t run out and using them on every card!  My biggest disappointment is when two favourite DSP patterns are back-to-back on a sheet and I have to choose which side to use!

Do you have a tip for all the crafters out there?
Create cards in multiples – send one as intended and keep one for later.  When the keep for later pile gets too large, give sets of cards away to family & friends. They’ll love having handmade cards in their draw to be able to give to others and it gives you a reason to keep creating!

Kelly shared a fun group of projects with us today. Head on over to her blog: My Paper Craft Journey to see all the details and supply list about this project! Kelly used the Summer Days to create her projects.

We are so happy to have Kelly as part of our crew and we look forward to seeing all of the wonderful creations she comes up with in the future. If you would like to see more of Kelly’s work be sure to visit her blog My Paper Craft Journey. Be sure to keep an eye on the Stamp Review Crew for upcoming hops and more crew interviews.

Featured Crew Member: Betty Traciak

Hello, we are excited to announce over the next few months we are doing a special series of posts here on the Stamp Review Crew Blog featuring some of the Crew Members. We asked our crew member a series of questions to help you get to know them better. The Stamp Review Crew Hops wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for all these talented stampers coming together to share their love of stamping.

We are giving a big shout out to Betty Traciak, a very talented lady! Betty has been part of the crew team since January 2014. You can visit her blog Kitty Stamp to see all her fabulous creations!

We asked Betty to tell us a little bit about her family and where she lives:

Hello, my name is Betty Traciak. I live in Michigan with my husband. Although we are technically empty-nesters we are happily busy seeing, talking to (yay for FaceTime), or feeding (hey, Mom what’s for lunch) our kids.

We asked Betty to tell us a little about herself:

I named my blog Kitty Stamp in honor of all the wonderful kitties I have had the fun of knowing. I grew up on a farm in rural Michigan and we always had an abundance of cats (among lots of other animals). I also enjoy quilting and sewing and I find that my quilting often inspires my stamping. I have quite a collection of kitty stamps and kitty fabric! I’ve been a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator for thirteen years— time flies when you’re having fun!

We asked what led you to stamping?

At the first Stampin’ Up! party I attended I purchased a stamp set, a black ink pad, a pack of white paper, a pack of black paper and a set of bright colored markers. I thought it would be a fun project for my daughter and her friends. They had a great time stamping for a day but I was the one who was hooked!

What do you love most about being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator?

The wonderful people I have connected with all around the world.

How would you describe your crafting style?

I’m not sure it is a “style” but I enjoy the challenge of coming up with “out of the box” or unusual ways to use products and stamps.

Do you have something you like to create specifically?

3D projects are my favorite. Especially making a unique gift for someone special.

What is your favorite Stampin’ Up! Tool and Why?

The Stamparatus! The perfectionist in me loves this! It is wonderful for two-step stamping, repeating a pattern, and arranging multiple stamps. I especially like it for lining up sentiments. I always use it if I am stamping with photopolymer stamps to get a clear crisp image. Oh and I love that the open edges allows for stamping bigger projects. I keep mine within reach of my stamping space so I can grab it quickly.

What is your favorite current Stampin’ Up! Product and why?

Stampin’ Blends.  I feel so artistic when I use them! The depth of color and shading that is possible is lovely and so very simple to achieve.

Do you have a tip for all the crafters out there?
Create something for someone you love. You both will be blessed!

Betty shared a fun group of projects with us today. Head on over to her blog: Kitty Stamp to see all the details and supply list about this project! Betty used the Summer Days to create her projects.

We are so happy to have Betty as part of our crew and we look forward to seeing all of the wonderful creations she comes up with in the future. If you would like to see more of Betty’ s work be sure to visit her blog Kitty Stamps. Be sure to keep an eye on the Stamp Review Crew for upcoming hops and more crew interviews.

The Stamp Review Crew Hops wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for all these talented stampers coming together to share their love of stamping.

We are giving a big shout out to Charlet Mallett, a very talented lady! Charlet has been part of the crew team since November 2016. You can visit her blog Painted Orange to see all her fabulous creations!

We asked Charlet to tell us a little bit about her family and where she lives:

Hello, My name is Charlet Mallett, an Utah native currently living in Freeport, Maine. I’ve been married for 25 years and my husband is my biggest champion. We have three amazing boys (10, 18, 21). My family keeps me happy and very busy.

We asked Charlet to tell us a little about herself:

My day career has provided awesome opportunities to be creative. I’ve worked in the design and paper crafting industry for over 20 years and have a professional background in photography, graphic design, product management and product development. Some of my other passions include antiquing, home decorating, gardening, and baking. I am a huge fan of live music, limited edition concert posters and pie. My love of Stampin’ Up! began in 2002 and started me on this fabulous paper crafting journey. I’ve been a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator for over 10 years (two 5 year stints). I am addicted to card making and love the art of paper crafting. I create often (crafting therapy) and enjoy sharing those creations to inspire others.

We asked what led you to stamping?

I was hired to work at Stampin’ Up! corporate office in 2002 and became passionate about stamping and paper crafting. After a few years of being fully immersed in stamping it was hard not to get sucked in.

Why did you decide to become a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator?

I initially signed up during Sale-a-bration to build up my personal crafting stash. I hosted a party and signed up that night. I dropped after 5 years when I had our last child. I signed up again a year or so later.

What do you love most about being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator?

Friendships … I love the people I have met along the way. I am so grateful for the many lifelong friendships made. Plus I love stamping, cardmaking and everything paper craft related.

How would you describe your crafting style?

Clean, simple and eclectic. I like to try new techniques and layouts so my style is constantly evolving.

Do you have something you like to create specifically?

I love making cards more than any other type of project. Cards are small and quick to create. This type of project is easy to complete in one sitting makes me feel very productive when I finish.

What is your favorite Stampin’ Up! Tool and Why?

Hmm. This is hard. My most used tools are my paper trimmer and Take-Your-Pick / paper piercer. Not very glamorous. I use my Take-Your-Pick / paper piercer to pick up small items, use to add small embellishments, remove the backer paper from Stampin’ Dimensionals, etc. It’s like a having an extra small, very pointy, precise finger.

What is your favorite current Stampin’ Up! Product and why?

My current favorite product is the new Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine. It’s sleek, cuts like a dream and fits on my desk. My current favorite stamp set is Floating and Fluttering because it is so versatile and easy to use. Cards come together quickly with this set.

Do you have a tip for all the crafters out there?
Designate a personal crafting space (any size/space will do) so you can come and go as inspiration strikes. Keep your most used tools and pre-cut paper at the ready so you can craft easily.

Charlet shared a fun project with us today. Head on over to her blog: Painted Orange to see all the details and supply list about this project! Charlet used the Snailed It Bundle to create her project.

We are so happy to have Charlet as part of our crew and we look forward to seeing all of the wonderful creations she comes up with in the future.
